I had the unique opportunity to work on an important project with the Finnish Defence Forces at Metropolia UAS. Our task was to create an introductory cutscene for a VR War Injury Simulator. We used Unreal Engine 5 for this project.

We had a tight three-month schedule, so we needed to be efficient. Our goal was to let animators start their work early in the project, so we decided to use Metahumans instead of building all of our characters from scratch.

The biggest challenge for me, as the lead character artist, was adding realistic details like wounds and explosion damage to the Metahuman characters without breaking their delicate rig. Plus, we had to match our character's look and damage to the existing character model in the simulation but with higher graphics quality and realism.

Our character art team did an amazing job. We not only customized the Metahumans but also changed their clothes and made their skin textures unique, all while keeping the rig intact. We did all of this without using any paid tools, relying only on our skills and creativity to deliver the best product.

This project shows how I can handle tough technical and artistic challenges in character creation, and leading a team through tough challenges to success. Our client was extremely satisfied with the end result.
